A monthly activities calendar is provided to all residents. A variety of social, recreational educational and religious events occur throughout the month. Some events take place here at the Manor, while others may be at the local colleges or at other facilities in our area. When an event is held away from the Manor, transportation is provided for those who are interested in attending.
During the monthly Resident Council meeting ideas are often presented to determine the level of interest. By providing varied programs and weekly activities, all residents usually find something that interests them. A weekly "get-together" finds residents playing their favorite games with others, working on seasonal crafts, or just talking and socializing with other residents...of course with a delicious snack or two.
Since several residents no longer drive we often take a group to local restaurants for lunch or dinner. Although wonderful meals are provided at the Manor, going out is a special treat many enjoy.
Annual events at St. James' Manor include the August Clambake, The Country Fair, Casino Night, Silent Auctions, and of course the annual Holiday Gathering in December. Staff and residents often provide entertainment and local musicians add to the merriment. Barber Shop Quartets, school choruses, slide shows with speakers, and sing-a-longs are just a few other events enjoyed throughout the year. Residents have their privacy and independence and several opportunities to interact with others and to participate in activities they enjoy. |
